The Butterfly Park of Benalmadena has recently signed a collaboration agreement with Zerynthia, a non-profit association in Spain and member/representative of the European Federation of Butterfly Conservation, and which has among its objectives the study, dissemination and conservation of Spanish butterflies.
The purpose of this agreement, the butterfly Actias isabellae, specifically the populations located in the Sierra de Cazorla (Jaén) on which there has been no studies or censuses of population distribution.
For this reason the Zerynthia association has chosen this species as “Butterfly of the Year 2016” and has organized a field trip to be held in the Sierra de Cazorla (Jaén) on June 4, 2016 to facilitate observation of this iconic species to interested people. From the Butterfly Benalmádena addition patorcinar this event, we want to contribute to its spread in Andalusia.
The Zerynthia Association is responsible for coordinating the registration of persons requesting to participate, setting a limited number of places.
